You Aim too Low
It was another day in class, and it seemed like time couldn't go by any slower. Give it a couple of minutes and my mind was drifting away to the most insignificant topics such as what's for lunch, what should I do this weekend, should I play basketball today etc. But I've been thinking lately, if Jesus was in school, where would his mind and aim be?
If anyone were to have high standards, it would have to be those who are followers of Christ right!? I'm content with being distracted in class, chilling out instead of studying, and zoning out instead of meditating upon higher things. But honestly, that's not the standard God has for me. When you are walking with Jesus, He calls to you to a standard that is higher then you can imagine. But don't worry, he'll get you there step by step.
We would be glad to see you rising to the noble elevation God designs that you shall reach. Jesus loves the precious youth; and He is not pleased to see them grow up with uncultivated, undeveloped talents. They may become strong men of firm principle, fitted to be interested with high responsibilities, and to this end they may lawfully strain every nerve.

Every nerve in your body should be interested in reaching a higher standard. As distracted as you may get in class, Christ wants to give you the strength to focus and get something out of it. As messy as your room (or car, in my case) is, He wants to discipline you that you will have it on check. As I study out my life, I realize that I aim to low in many aspects of my life. My mind is not intellectually disciplined as it should be, my schedule is sub-optimal, my thoughts should be higher, and the list goes on. So what do I do?
By taking one step after another, the highest ascent may be climbed, and the summit of the mount may be reached at last. Do not become overwhelmed with the great amount of work you must do in your lifetime, for you are not required to do it all at once. Let every power of your being to to each day's work....and make advancement up the ladder of progress step by step

#heartburn, The best thing to do is to take life step by step. Reformation and discipline doesn't happen overnight, but on the daily. He'll help you little by little, maybe starting off with a clean room, then a clean car, then a clean dorm, who knows how clean the world will be because of you! But in a more solemn note, realize that the standard is high and we as humans have an inclination to settle for a mediocre level. Maybe it may not be in our grades, but often it is in our lifestyles and the habits that we practice. Recognize that you are called to a standard that is higher then Everest, but if you want to get there, all you have to do is take it step by step with Jesus.
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:14
